For more than 30 years, 2G has connected millions of devices, including alarms, elevators, remote meter reading systems, access control systems, and automation systems. Mobile operators are now phasing out 2G to make way for 4G and 5G networks, which are more powerful and better suited to today’s uses.

Access control is undergoing a true revolution. Motorized gates, connected intercoms, remote unlocking via smartphone, real-time access management… The equipment is becoming increasingly smart and offers unprecedented ease of use. But this digital transformation also brings new challenges: cybersecurity. Long reserved for large companies, concerns about cyberattacks now affect all users of connected solutions, whether in an apartment building, an industrial site, or a single-family home. Today, an access control system must do more than just prevent physical intrusions. It must also be designed to mitigate digital risks.

In industrial and commercial settings, access security is no longer limited to controlling who enters a site. Today, another risk is becoming an increasing concern: “tailgating.” Although still little known outside of security specialists, this phenomenon represents a significant vulnerability in many access control systems.
